FASCIAL STRETCH THERAPY

Fascial Stretching Therapy Edmonton

Assisted Stretching Techniques

Fascial Stretch Therapy is comparable to coming in wearing jeans that have been in the dryer and leaving with your favourite pair of sweat pants on. The Best Part is you feel a stretch awareness but no pain. Practitioners that do FST are Kelly Supervich, Calvin McBride, and Alix Claydon.

FST is assisted stretching so all you need to do relax! The reason why fascial stretching is awesome is because it not only stretches the muscles but also the joint capsule, ligaments, tendons, neural tissues, and fascia. When we do the BEST technique ever, we decompress the capsule allowing more fluid and movement into the joint to introduce new ranges. With FST our main goal is to increase mobility without sacrificing stability in your joints. We incorporate multiple techniques such as traction and modified PNF to add a neurological component into the treatments.

Assisted stretching is centuries old and most commonly found in Thai massage and assisted yoga. FST has taken the concept and used modern sports science to improve the effects. FST has added PNF and neuromuscular work to increase awareness in the new end ranges, leaving your joints stable and mobile.

FST can be for everyone, because of our knowledgeable practitioners we are trained to know when to do more mobilizing and more stability work in end ranges to decrease pain and increase stability or mobility.

Fascial Stretch Therapy FAQs

How do I book?

We will combine some of the stretching techniques in a regular massage treatment, but to get into many muscles and joints we do need the clothes on. Great news is that we have increased our hours and opened up Fascial Stretching sessions only. It will be under a new tab on the main page of our booking software when you click our booking link.

Why wouldn’t I stretch on my own?

Stretching on your own is excellent and you should be adding regular stretching into your day-time routine; HOWEVER, we use a lot of traction to decompress your joint capsules (sending more fluid into the joint) this is something you cannot do on your own and has huge benefits to improving mobility long term.

Will benefits cover FST?

Yes, benefits will cover FST by registered massage therapists, under massage benefits or health spending. Direct billing is available for most health plans
