CUPPING MASSAGE EDMONTON

Ancient Holistic Healing

Cupping is an ancient holistic method that most likely came from Egyptian and Chinese medial practices, documentation during this period is difficult to locate. Most of us know it as a Chinese medicine practice. It was then adopted into the western sciences to help increase blood flow, stretch fascia, and if deep enough can separate the first layer of muscles. It is the only way we can manipulate the fascia by stretching it up.

There are two techniques we utilize during our treatments, dynamic cups and stationary cupping. Dynamic cupping is when we slide the cups, bringing all the blood flow to the superficial layers of muscles and skin, this leaves the skin looking a little red but no circles. Stationary cupping is when the cups are placed on tight muscles for a 3-15min and this technique will separate the fascia, increase blood flow, and lift up the first layer of muscle (if using deep cupping). This technique will leave circle, it is normal for the cupping marks to last 1-6 weeks, the tighter the fascia the more likely for the cupping marks to last a little longer! While the stationary cups are on we move on to another location, so we can get more done in one treatment!

Cupping Massage FAQs

Does cupping hurt?

The tighter the fascia the more the cupping hurts. However, our therapists are trained to know how deep to put the cups on so it is comfortable and effective for you. So do not worry about the pain!

What if I don’t want cupping marks?

That is okay we understand that we have fun events to go to that maybe you don’t want red circles in your photos! We can use dynamic cupping to get some of the same effects as cupping and it wont leave a long lasting mark.

Why do cupping marks look like bruises?

The cup will bring all of the blood to the surface which can look like a bruise (especially when the capillaries are expanded. But it is not a bruise, the capillaries to do not break. Because the cups bring the blood to the surface it can be a little bit more sensitive, but that will go away within 24hours and should not be uncomfortable. We are trained professionals who understand how deep to put the cups in so you do not feel uncomfortable afterwards.

What Our Clients Say

“Calvin is an awesome massage therapist! I was never a big fan of having my legs massaged, but he has changed my mind! Especially after a bikram class, he can find all the sore spots I wasn't even aware of and they feel like butter afterwards. He certified in cupping, so I will definitely be requesting that next time I see him.”

“This clinic is great, Kelly is super talented and insightful. I have some chronic back issues and an old injury in my shoulder that has decreased my mobility and caused more back issues, and i'm only in my late 20's! Kelly is so great to work with, shes hilarious and welcoming. I feel so comfortable with her. Her deep tissue massages with cupping and hot stones have given me so much relief as I often feel like I am in pain everyday. The booking system is so user friendly as well, I love how easy it is to book appointments”
